Lil Wayne’s ‘lollipop’ Sets New Record

Lil Wayne’s latest opus, Tha Carter III, was recently certified double-platinum for sales of 2 million copies. The set’s success was largely due to its lead single, “Lollipop” featuring Static Major, which topped the music charts for several weeks. The song’s video recently reached a new milestone. The “Lollipop” video is the most popular music video on Music Choice ever. SOHH.com reports that “Lollipop” racked up a record-breaking one million views for two straight weeks.
In honor of the achievement, Music Choice will air a special show original show entitled Lil’Wayne-A Milli exclusively on its On Demand network thru August 17th. The show will feature rappers and fans sharing their thoughts on him was well as Lil’Wayne himself commenting on his rise to stardom.
Damon Williams, VP of Programming for Music Choice, said in a released statement, “Lil’Wayne’s accomplishments on Music Choice speak to the power of his artistry and the relevance of his music in the marketplace. Wayne has done an incredible job of consistently delivering what today’s hip-hop fans want. The milestone of realizing over 10 million views for a single video speaks to the power of Lil’Wayne’s fan base. Lil’ Wayne is the best in the game.”
