Game Vs. Bow Wow: No Rap Beef Here, Just A ‘Madden 09′ Face-Off

August 20, 2008

If Bow Wow ever has a rap beef, he can always call on his “big brother” the Game for some assistance. But the next time the two MCs meet in person, it might not be all love — at least for four quarters. The two are apparently going to face off in a game of “Madden NFL 09.”

On Tuesday, Bow released a video on DimeWars.com challenging his friend to a $100,000 video game showdown.

“I seen you do your thing in ‘Madden,’ ” Bow said. “I want to let you know I will bust your ass in that ‘Madden.’ We can get it poppin’.

“The winner can take the money, and we can donate it to charity,” he added. “Donate it to a good cause.”

A Game video blog started circulating Wednesday morning (August 20), in which the Compton concrete-smasher accepted the challenge. He crassly said he would up the stakes to 100 G’s and sexual favors from Bow’s ex-girlfriend Ciara.

” ‘Madden’ — I do this sh– every day,” Game said from his tour bus. “This is the ‘Madden’ bus, n—a. You can’t f— with me. I been playing this sh– since you was in diapers. Since ‘89, ‘Bill Walsh College Football.’ You was 3 years old when ‘Madden’ came out.” (Actually, Bow was 2 in 1989, and the first version of the game, “John Madden Football,” dropped in 1988.)

No date was given for the face-off, but Bow Wow has offered to fly to where Game is or send a jet to pick him up. A spokesperson for EA Sports, which makes the popular sports game, says the company has no involvement in the showdown.

Game Details Jay-Z ‘Beef’

August 15, 2008

Contrary to the impression created by a recent radio interview, The Game says he has no desire to engage in a battle of words with Jay-Z.

This comes after the Cali rapper??s comments with Phoenix radio personality Chino of 104.7 KISS FM, during which he broached the subject of beefing with Jay, making statements that appeared to be batting the former Def Jam president.

But Game clarifies that the statements were made in response to an alleged incident of which he has no proof.

??I heard that Jay sorta said something about me at the Wimbeldon tennis match,?? The Game told AllHipHop.com exclusively. ??I didn??t see him say it, I didn??t hear no audio so I don??t really know if he was dissing me, if he said something about me.??

Rumors of animosity between the two artists surfaced in 2005, following the release of a Jay-Z freestyle verse that seemed to be taking aim at the then G-Unit member.

Still, while Game says he recognizes Jay-Z??s ability to subliminally attack an opponent, something which he says he??s incorporated into his own style, the rapper maintains he has no desire to fuel the rumor mill.

??What people don??t know about Jay is Jay is probably the most witty rapper that ever walked the face of the earth,?? Game explained. ??He??s witty, he??s clever. His metaphors will be sitting right next to you and then hit you in the face so hard that you don??t know what happened. That??s the type of rapper Jay is. I was molded by that part of him and added that to my own persona and my own marksmanship as an emcee.

??Jay-Z??s a legend, man. I respect his music, [but that] doesn??t really mean I have to respect him if he??s disrespecting me. The Jay that was talking about me at Wimbeldon under his breath, or says anything about me, is the Jay that I??ll go at, and that??s just it. Jay the rap artist, Jay the legend, Jay from Marcy Projects; that hustler turned dope artist, turned probably best lyricist that ever lived: I have respect for. I??m not gonna add wood to a fire that??s already burning out.??

LAX, which Game has said will be his last offering as an artist, is due in stores on August 26.

The star-studded opus features appearances by Lil?? Wayne, Nas, Common, Ludacris, Raekwon and Ice Cube, as well as R&B inflections courtesy of Bilal, Chrisette Michelle, Raheem DeVaughn, Ne-Yo, and Keyshia Cole, who appears on the album??s lead single ??Game??s Pain.??

The album also serves as a springboard for Game??s renewed focus on building his Black Wall Street imprint.

??I have a slew of producers and I??m starting to develop artists and getting more focused,?? he says. ??This my third album, and it??s time to focus on my folks. And my label. The camp??s on the album. So we??re just learning each other, growing as a family, and we??re gonna do big things in 2009 and the years to come.??

LAX features productions by two of BWS??s producers: Tre Beatz and E.P., contributed three tracks and served as the album??s executive producer.

Jay-Z Reveals That He’s Working On The Blueprint 3

August 8, 2008

Jay-Z is hard at work on his next solo album — his 11th and he’s titled it The Blueprint 3.

According to Billboard.com, the rapper made an appearance at Wednesday night’s (August 6) Glow In The Dark tour stop at New York’s Madison Square Garden. He used the appearance to showcase a few new tracks he recorded while in Hawaii recently. One was tentatively titled “Jockin’ Jay-Z.”

“That bloke from Oasis said I couldn’t play guitar / somebody shoulda told him I’m a f***ing rock star / today is gonna be the day that I’m gonna throw it back to you,” Jay rapped as one of the beats played, referencing his cover of Oasis’ “Wonderwall” at the recent Glastonbury Festival, which drew a mixed response.

The rapper’s partner-in-crime, Memphis Bleek, revealed further info regarding the upcoming album. He told Billboard.com Kanye West gave him some beats, which he loved.

“I told Jay that I’m hating on him for having [those beats],” Bleek said. “The beats are like new rhythms with old drums. Just picture Jay-Z having four records like ‘Encore.’”

The Blueprint 3 will be Jay’s last with Def Jam, which he will follow up by starting to record under his new deal with Live Nation.

There is no date set for the album as of press time.

Rick Ross Speaks Out On ??Be Out Day?? Shootout

August 7, 2008

The second annual Rick Ross Be Out Day charity event was interrupted by gunfire yesterday in Miami Gardens, Florida.

According to reports, an argument across the street from the fundraiser escalated and approximately 10 to 12 shots were fired into the air causing chaos to what was supposed to be a day of positivity. Rick Ross brushed off the incident as business as usual in the inner city neighborhood.

“It??s another day in the city, I??m a keep it real,” Ross told the Broward-Palm Beach New Times. “I feel like all the kids came and they left safe. Some dudes had a squabble on the side of the road and whatever happened happened, but other than that, all the kids got to see Rick Ross, Flo Rida, Brisco and we all had a good time.”

In addition to providing kids with entertainment, Rick Ross Charities also distributed over 2,000 backpacks to local children, registered people to vote and provided free HIV/Aids testing.

Ross considers the event to be a success and plans to continue to help his community.

“Oh I??m a do it every year,?? he said. ??You gotta be a leader. You gotta stand for something and represent for something and that??s what the kids need to see to get motivated to do bigger and better things in their own lives.”

The Miami Gardens Police Department apprehended one of the suspected shooters immediately following the incident. The other remains at large.

As of press time no one was reported to be injured by the shots.
